Imphal, November 10 2017:
As part of its plan to increase the supply of LPG cooking gas in the State, the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) has now made provision for unloading eight loaded bulk tanker trucks (TTs) at a time at the Sekmai bottling plant.
Earlier, the IOC was managing only three TTs at a time at the plant but augmented facilities have been commissioned and the plant can now unload eight bulk TTs at a time.
In October, regarding the transportation of bulk LPG, the IOC had also issued a gate notice to add 42 more LPG TTs to the then existing 152 trucks.
Accordingly, out of the 45 LPG TTs that applied for the task, 23 had qualified and the IOC is getting ready to issue another gate notice for the remaining 19 TTs.
The 23 qualified LPG TTs are currently undergoing physical verification.
These will be put to work at the earliest.
With more TTs on their way, the IOC had increased the capacity to allow unloading of eight loaded bulk TTs at the Sekmai bottling plant.
The new development will not only increase the speed of the TTs but also the quantity of bulk LPG in the State, informed a source.
With a sizeable stock available at the Sekmai bottling plant, there would be fair supply.
The opening stock this morning was sufficient for five days, informed a source.
CRPF convoys have been escorting the TTs regularly.
The source further said that early today there had been more unloading of the bulk LPG TTs, and the process of bottling has also been completed.
