33rd State Polo Tournament 2017 : Chingkheihunba PC-A, Imphal Riding Club sail into last 16

Imphal, November 10 2017:
The first pre-quarter final match between MPSC-A and KNMM-A ended in the middle of the game due to a brawl while Chingkheihunba Polo Club-A and Imphal Riding Polo Club beat the irrivals to cruise into the quarter finals of the ongoing 3 3 rd N Hazari and Dr N Tombi State Polo Tournament 2017 organised by Manipur Horse Riding and Polo Association at MapalKangjeibung.
The first chukker between MPSC-A and KNMM-A ended 2-1 in favour of the former.
The match came to a halt in the begining of the second half over a controversial goal given by the umpire of the match.
The riders of KNMM refused to play further and walked outside as a protest.
So far the organising committee has not initiated any action and as per the rules and conduct of the tournament, the decision taken by the organising committe will be final.
The second quarter final match was a very one sided match as Chingkheihunba Polo Club notched up a 10-2 victory against Nambul Mapal Polo Club.
Nambul Mapal Polo Club had its two goal in the first chukker through L Tarun and Momocha.
Th Kaoba struck twice and T Leishemba contributed one goal to finish the first chukker 3-2 .
In the second chukker, L Kokeshor scored one goal to make the scoreline 4-2 .
The third chukker saw five goals when Kokeshor and A Basanta struck two goals each and T Leishemba scored one.
Y Suraj struck the finisher in the fourth chukker to wrap the game 10-2 against Nambul Mapal Polo Club.
The third quarter final match was also another onesided affair as Imphal Riding Polo Club thrashed CRPF Polo Team 8-1 .
The Imphal Riding team did a good start with a 2-0 lead in the first chukker.
M Rohit and S Dollar took the honour to score one each to hand the lead.
In the second chukker too, Umesh Gurung and Dollar tapped in one goal each to extend the lead by 4-0 .
The consistency of the Imphal Riding team continued with another two goals in the third chukker scored by L Rohit and N Ranjan while Y Okendro of the CRPF team pulled one back to make it 6-1 at the end of the chukker.
S Dollar and L Rohit then pumped in one goal each to register a convincing 8-1 victory against the hapless CRPF Polo team.
MPSC-C will take on X Polo Club in the fourth quarter final match tomorrow at 1 pm.
MPSC-B will clash against Khuman Polo Club in the second quarter final match of the day at 2 pm while DGAR Polo Team will face Samadon Ayangba at 3 pm at Hapta Kangjeiebung.
