Festival of Literature kicks off

Imphal, November 10 2017:
The 6th Festival of Literature which will be held for 3 days under the auspices the Sahitya Akademi and Manipur State Kala Akademi kick-started today at Kangla Hall.
The inaugural function was attended by Art & Culture Minister L Jayantakumar as chief guest and Commissioner (Art & Culture) M Lakshmikumar as president.
Speaking on the occasion,-Jayantakumar sought suggestions from the people to make the festival more meaningful.
He noted the role of writers in bringing positive changes in the society.
He said that writers should not stop motivating people through their influential writings.
Highlighting the need of a rest house especially for writers , where they could compose their work, the Minister said that the Government will try to set up one such place.
Lakshmikumar expounded the role of writers in guiding and shaping a society.
He also wished the festival a grand success.
As part of the function, a poetry reading session chaired by Th Ibopishak was conducted.
Yumlembam Ibomcha, RK Bhubonsana, Arambam Memchoubi, Borkanya, Birendrajit Naorem, Raghu Leishangthem, Lanchenba Meetei, Saratchand Thiyam, Kshetri Rajen and Naorem Bidyasagar read out their poem.
