Ukhrul, October 24 2015 :
The 48 hours total bandh called by the UNC from midnight of Oct 22 in protest against the three 'anti tribal bills' and the two resolutions passed by the State Assembly on Aug 31 passed off peacefully in Ukhrul district.
The Tangkhul Naga long (TNL) in collaboration with the Tangkhul frontal organizations enforced the total bandh in the district.
Offices and other business establishments remained closed while inter-district and inter-villages passenger vehicles stayed off roads.
Emer- gency services were exempted from the purview of the bandh.
However, no report of any untoward incident has been received till the time of filing this report.
TNL president Weapon Zimik said that volunteers were deployed for effective enforcement of the bandh at strategic locations in and around the town area.
Due to communication gap, taxi services in the district headquarters tried to resume service this morning following widespread rumour that bandh was relaxed on account of local festival "Thareo." However, bandh was again enforced by the volunteers saying there was no relaxation.
