Imphal, October 24 2015 :
The Ministry of Renewable Energy has given its approval to the State Government's pro-posal to install solar power plants atop Government offices and institutes located at Imphal.
A new project of installing solar power plants at roof tops of Government offices/institutes whose total power generation capacity is 3.4 MW would be implemented by MANIREDA, informed an official source.
As for the Government offices/institutes where solar power plants would be installed would be decided after a meeting with the Chief Minister.
Power generated from the proposed roof-top solar plants would be connected with power grids.
JNIMS and Khuman Lampak Sports Complex are likely to be the first choices for installation of roof-top solar power plants, informed the source.
At the same time, MANIREDA was mulling to take up a floating power plant of capacity 100 KW on Loktak Lake.
MANIREDA has already electrified many remote and interior villages of the State by installing solar power plants and solar home lighting systems.
