Imphal, September 19 2026:
The National Revolutionary Front Manipur (NRFM) has called a 24-hour bandh on September 21 in protest against the Manipur Merger Agreement signed on September 21, 1949 .
A statement issued by NRFM information and publicity secretary Sana-jaoba Meitei said that Maharaj Bodhchandra signed the Manipur Merger Agreement under coercion.
Manipur already had its own Constitution in 1947 and a National Assembly was set up under the Manipur Constitution Act, 1947 .
A National convention held on October 28-29, 1993 at GM Hall adopted a resolution which categorically stated that the Manipur Merger Agreement signed on September 21, 1949 had no legal or Constitutional validity, it said.
The NRFM said that it has been working with other revolutionary organisations to see that Manipur is enlisted as a non-self governing territory (NSGT) under the UN before 2030, the last decade for the eradication of colonialism.
