Pambei-led UNLF holds talk with Govt officials

Imphal, January 14 2026: Senior officials from the Government of India and the Government of Manipur held a high-level meeting with some members of the Pambei-led UNLF's Central Committee at Imphal on January 13, 2026 .

The meeting was attended by MHA North East Advisor AK Mishra, Intelligence Bureau Joint Director Rajesh Kamble, Manipur Chief Secretary Puneet Kumar Goel, DGP Rajiv Singh, Security Advisor Kuldiep Singh and other high-ranking officials.

While no official statement has been issued regarding the agenda or outcome of the meeting, political observes and sources familiar with the developments have been speculating that the discussions could be linked either to the possible initiation of a formal political dialogue between the Govt of India and the Pambei-led UNLF or to ongoing efforts aimed at facilitating the formation of a popular Govt in Manipur.

It was on November 29, 2023 that the Pambei-led UNLF signed a peace agreement with the Government of India at New Delhi.
