Imphal, January 07 2016:
Rejecting allegations from certain quarters, staff
of Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Science (JNIMS) clarified
that the hospital is rendering best service to the people of
Manipur.
Addressing media persons today at the auditorium of the
hospital, Professor Dr L Mohen of Pathology Department said
that all staff of the hospital from different departments including
doctors and nurses have been working very hard to provide
the best health facilities to the people.
He added that the revenue collected from the hospital is
approximately about Rs 1,00,000 per day.
"The huge generation
of income will not be possible had not the hospital
rendered proper health service to the public", said Prof Mohen.
Sharp increase in number of patients admitted and treated
at the hospital is all because JNIMS has been continuously
providing the best service to patients, he added.
Recently Dialysis unit has been installed in the hospital
providing free service to needy patients.
He further said that
JNIMS is one of the youngest medical institutions of the
country where post graduate course in four subjects are introduced.
The promotion of doctors is based on merit and seniority
basis and there was no chance of nepotism, stated Professor
Dr N Jitendra.
He added that construction works of JNIMS
do not go through the Director.
It would be wrong to say that
contract works are taken up by the Director of JNIMS, said
Prof Jitendra.
Producing the performance report of JNIMS hospital for
the period from Jan 1, 2015 to Nov 2015, Dr Jitendra said
the total number of OPD patients treated were 251329 and the
total number of patients treated at ATC/Casualty Department
is 46640 during the period.
Number of operations performed during the period was
28506 including 22585 minor operations and 5921 major
operations, he said.
Besides, the number of ICU patients during the period was
109 and number of ICCU patients was 104, he added.
In such scenario, the claims made by certain group that
JNIMS is under performing would be wrong, he said while
adding that constructive suggestions and advice from all sections
of the society will be welcomed for enhancement of
service.
Nursing Superintendent, P Landhoni said that the medical
institute is for the next generations of Manipur and every
section of the society must contribute to make JNIMS a
premier medical institute.
Under the able leadership of the
Director of JNIMS the staff of various departments have been
collectively working to provide the best medical care facility,
she added.
The claim that JNIMS is not working properly is wrong,
she stated.
