The decomposed body of a man, who was apparently murdered and later thrown into the river, was fished out from Manipur river near Ithai Barrage today morning.
According to police report, the body was fished out from the river at around 9.30 am today.
Besides the hands and legs being found tied up, a boulder weighing around 5 kgs was bound with the help of a rope and wire at the waist of the man.
A statement issued by OC of Kumbi police station said that the face of the man, whose identity is yet to be established, was found in a high state of decomposition.
The deceased was around 5 feet and six inches tall and he was found clad in striped full sleeved shirt in brown and black colour, black track pant with 'sports' printed on the side and a pair of jogging shoes printed 'Vista'.
The body has been deposited at the mortuary of RIMS.
Kumbi police station has registered a case and started investigation into the matter.
