State joins 76th Republic Day celebration
Development works go on non-stop amid crisis: CM

Chief Minister N Biren has stated that the Government does not stop development works even though the State is caught in a restive situation for a prolonged period.
As in other States of India, the 76th Republic Day was celebrated in Manipur, with the main function held at the historic Kangla Fort on Sunday.
There Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla unfurled the Tricolour before a band party of 1st Battalion Mani-pur Rifles performed the National Anthem.
Police Medals for Meritorious Service (Republic Day 2023) and Police Medal for Meritorious Service (Independence Day 2023) were also presented to many police personnel at the Republic Day celebration.
Ajay Kumar Bhalla also took salutes of 54 march past contingents led by Superintendent of Police (Sports) Laishram Sarita.

Welcoming the march past contingents, a vote of thanks ceremony was held at the 1st Bn Manipur Rifles Parade Ground.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chief Minister N Biren hailed all the people from both the hills and the valley for their enthusiastic participation in the Republic Day celebration even though the State is currently passing through a critical phase.
He said that it was a sign of the Almighty's blessing for return of peace in Manipur.
"The Republic Day gives us a strong motivation for all of us to live together in peace and harmony", he said.
Biren said that India was formed after unification of over 500 independent kingdoms like Manipur.
Today, India is developing fast.
Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visionary leadership, India has been making rapid pro-gress during the last 10 years.
India is now the fourth largest economy in the world.
Following the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative, India is now an exporter of several defence products, Biren said.
Even though a violent crisis has been besieging the State since May 3, 2023, development works have been going on with little stoppage, the Chief Minister stated.
He went on to claim that Ministers, MLAs, the Chief Secretary and other Government officials have been working tirelessly to take the State forward.
The Republic Day celebration manifested unmis- takable signs of a new Manipur where there would be peace and development with the help of the people, he said.
"I'm confident that peace and harmony will return to Manipur shortly.
Protecting Manipur is the responsibility of each and every one of us", the Chief Minister asserted.
He said that the strength of India lies in the integrity of all its States and the unity of all its people including Manipur.
He also called upon all the people to work collectively so as to make India a superpower.
He noted that cultural troupes from Tengnoupal district, Churachandpur district, Kangpokpi district, Senapati district, Noney district and several valley districts were participating in the Republic Day 2025 celebration.
Extending best wishes to all the people of Manipur on the 76th Republic Day, Biren recalled that India became a republic on January 26, 1950 when it adopted the Constitution.
He said that the it was the Indian Constitution which laid the foundation of a welfare State and responsible Government.
Biren went on to claim that the State has been making rapid progress in the midst of the violent crisis.
To protect Manipur from all inimical forces is the foremost duty of every citizen of Manipur.
People have huge responsibilities toward making Manipur and India a strong and united State/country, he added.
