Imphal, June 01 2015 : With all kinds of disruptive activities and violence reported from different corners of the five hill districts which went to ADC polls today, over 40 polling stations are likely to go for repoll though the exact figure has not been officially confirmed.

As many as eight polling stations of Chandel district are likely to go for re-poll.

According to reports available here, Churachandpur ADC has the maximum number of polling stations which may go for repoll.

They are 4/3 Molda, 4/5 Nungsai, 4/6 Santing, 4/7 Santing Chonching, 4/8 Gaichung, 4/12 Konpi, 5/5 Dailong, 6/7 Taithu, 12/3 T Boljang, 13/3 Khenjang Toupokpi, 14/3 B Phaizalam and 14/13 Lhangjol.

Official reports say that Siden Chengpikot and Lenglakot polling stations of Churachandpur ADC recorded 100 per cent polling.

According to information received here, polling was already over last night at 24/1 Kamu-Khongsai and 24/4 Salam Patong polling stations of 24-Bongbal Khullen DCC under Sadar Hills ADC.

BJP candidate Thangjamang Kipgen alleged that supporters of a candidate overpowered polling personnel as well as security personnel and cast all the votes at 24/1 polling station last night itself.

A group of armed persons carried out a similar exercise at 24/4 polling station.

Thangjamang said that he found a ballot box already filled with ballot papers as he went to Salam Patong to cast his votes at around 7.30 this morning.

He said has lodged a complaint with the Saikul DEO/ERO to hold repoll in the two particular polling stations.

TS Amek Vaiphei, BJP candidate in 22-Kamuching DCC said that Congress supporters cast all the votes at 22/3 Chingnungpokpi while other candidates and their supporters were barred from entering the polling station.

INC candidate in 21-Chingdai Khullen DCC Onthang Haokip too alleged that BJP supporters indulged in similar massive proxy voting while keeping all other electorate and supporters of all rival candidates away from 21/1 Khamenlok polling station.

On the other hand, unidentified miscreants captured ballot papers from 19/4 Angkhunbung, 19/5 Thangal Surung and 19/7 Yongba Langkhong polling stations last night and set them afire.

The BJP candidate of 23-Nongmaiching DCC and his supporters were engaged in a stand-off with supporters of rival Congress candidate as they went to Sandangsenba UJB School on hearing that votes have been cast in the wee hours today.

BJP supporter P Modar sustained injuries as he was allegedly assaulted by Congress workers.

Soon after, Congress workers reportedly blocked all roads leading to Sandangsenba Maring village.

A polling personnel who was assigned duty at a polling station of 15-Akhui Changdoi DCC under Tamenglong ADC was assaulted by suspected NSCN-IM cadres at around 9 last night.

The victim has been identified as one Kh Manijao (41) of Kanglatongbi.

Another man who supports an Independent candidate too sustained injuries.

Enraged by the incident, local people raised an uproar following which the suspected NSCN-IM cadres fled from the scene.

However, the enraged people set ablaze a Maruti Gypsy.

One former militant of NSCN-IM was also thrashed by the mob.
