WTR destroys seized liquor cases in Ukhrul

Ukhrul, January 23 2024:
Wung Tangkhul Region (WTR) on Tuesday seized and destroyed as many as 120 cases of liquor confiscated from various commercial establishments, including hotels, restaurants and shops in Ukhrul district headquarters.
These confiscated items were destroyed in the presence of media at the WTR Office.
According to WTR officials, a notification was issued by the WTR Office on January 22, mandating the owners of hotels, restaurants and shops in the town to dispose of any liquor that was being stored or sold on their premises.
It was made clear that if they failed to comply, necessary action would be taken.
The notification was served to a total of 33 business establishments located in Ukhrul headquarters.
Following this, on Tuesday, WTR officers conducted checks and raids at Dungrei Junction and Naga Gate, where they confiscated a total of 120 cases of liquor.
The WTR Office informed that they only confiscated goods this time, but in the future, stricter action will be taken against those found selling alcohol.
The WTR officers also appealed to the public for their cooperation in their ongoing drive to combat the use of drugs and alcohol in the Wung Tangkhul region.
