Mortal remains of Meetei victims laid to rest

Bishnupur, January 23 2024:
The bodies of four Meeteis who were found murdered by suspected Kuki militants near Ningthoukhong Kha Khunou water reservoir on January 18, were laid to rest at Ningthoukhong Kha Khunou Komjao Turel Mapal grazing ground, on Tuesday.
The bodies of Oinam Bamoljao (60) s/o late Nokul, his son Oinam Manitomba (32), Thiyam Somen (50) s/o late Manibabu and Ningthoujam Nabadwip (37) s/o late Shyam, which were kept at RIMS mortuary, were claimed on Tuesday by the JAC after an understanding reached with the chief minister.
From the mortuary, the bodies were taken to Ningthoukhong Kha Khunou along with a procession during which the mourners raised slogans pertaining to safeguard of Manipur's territorial integrity, avenge death of innocent civilians, no separate administration in Manipur, etc.
The participants also offered floral tributes at Ningthoukhong Kha Khunou as a mark of respect to the departed souls.
Local MLA and minister Govindas Konthoujam was also present during the burial ceremony.
