Meitei Presbytery Society states stand on petition in SC

Reacting against mentioning of Meitei Presbyterian Church compound in the affidavit filed by Meetei Christian Churches Council Manipur (MCCCM) in the Supreme Court, Meitei Presbytery Society has asked MCCCM to withdraw the'same from the affidavit at the earliest or take responsibility for any untoward incident arising out of it.
Addressing media persons at Manipur Press Club, here, on Tuesday, Society vice president Soibam Nabakishore referred to the MCCCM filing petition in the Supreme Court in connection with destruction and burning down of churches, quarters and properties of Meitei Christians during the ethnic violence which erupted on May 3 last.
He described as unfortunate and unacceptable the MCCCM petition enlisting Meitei Presbyterian Church compound which is under the Meitei Presbytery Society among the churches targeted.
In the affidavit, it has been mentioned that churches under Meitei Presbyterian Society as well as those under Presbyterian Church of India (PCI Head Quarter Shillong), which is unacceptable, he said and urged MCCCM to delete the same from the affidavit at the earliest.
Any unwanted incident arising out of failing to respond positively, will be the sole responsibility of MCCCM, he warned.
