Meet opposes police operation at Pechi

Thoubal, July 23 2023: A public meeting held at Pechi Mayai Leikai community hall on Sunday in the presence of various meira paibi activists and organisation from Imphal East, Imphal West and Thoubal districts opposed frequent police operations at Pechi village even after arrest of suspects in connection with the nude parading of two Kuki women.

The meeting also resolved to organise rally to denounce unwanted incidents in Thoubal district, oppose arrest or detention by state or cent ral forces of participants of protest meet held Monday, condemn attempt to malign village volunteers who are defending Manipur over viral video incident and to release unconditionally all innocent persons arrested within seven days.

Speakers at the mass meet, speculated conspiracy hatched to defame village volunteers trying to protect Manipur's integrity especially as actions are being taken against Meetei while Kukis are left scot-free.

If decisions are based on a particular video footage that show a community in bad light and malign people who are protecting Manipur then video footages showing the other community's evil doings, etc., would be made public, they ' claimed.
