Imphal, July 31 2023: Khuman-them Anjalika, a lass from the border town of Moreh who dreamt of becoming a doctor but lately became uncertain about her future due to the violent clash in Manipur will soon get into medical school, thanks to JNIMS Director Dr Laishram Deben who has decided to bear all the educational expenses of the promising girl.

Raised by a single mother Khumanthem Kamala along with two other siblings (one brother and sister), Anjalika of Moreh Ward No 7 Turel Wangma scored 542 marks in the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) 2023 and was ranked 91 in State's merit list.

At times, Kamala who used to run a small shop at Moreh took the help of her relatives to provide for Anjalika and her siblings' education.

Unfortunately, Anjalika and her family members are taking shelter at a relief camp set up at Ideal Women College, Akampat after they fled from their hometown following the aggression by Kuki militants and their associates.

The aggressors have razed the shop and the house of Anjalika to ground.

To aid the hapless family which have been struck by a man-made tragedy to some extent, JNIMS Director Dr Laishram Deben has decided to bear the study cost of Anjalika so that the young girl could pursue her dream and help her family and the society at large.

Eldest of three siblings, Anjalika studied at Bish-nupur Public School upto Class X by staying at the maternal home of her mo-ther at Bishnupur Ward no 11.She completed her high-er secondary from MECI Explorer Academy in Im-phal by staying at a hostel.

Speaking to the media, Anjalika said that she crack-ed the NEET but the vio- lence has robbed her of things which are precious to her including her house.

Saying that she and her siblings could pursue their education only because of her mother's commitment to provide them a better life, Anjalika continued that their shop which was the only source of their income, unfortunately, had been razed to the ground.

The sister of Anjalika is in Class IX standard while her brother is only in KG.

She further said that all her dream to become a medical practitioner was shattered after the onslaught by miscreants at her hometown.

To a query, Anjalika credited her success in NEET to her mother and relatives in Bishnupur.

Further stating that there may be thousands of students at other relief camps too, she asked all the displaced students not to get discouraged despite all odds and keep their dreams alive.

Today, Dr L Deben went to Ideal Women College, Akampat and interacted with Anjalika and her family.

During the interaction, the JNIMS Director announced that he would bear all the expenses of Anjalika's study.

Dr Deben said that he came to know about the dilemma of Anjalika from social media.

Saying that securing a seat to pursue medical studies after clearing NEET is not easy, Dr Deben continued that he would provide all possible help to Anjalika from getting admission to hostel fees to buying study materials until she could stand on her own.

He also said that he will extend all help to students who want to pursue professional and technical courses as well as civil services aspirants at his level best.
