CBI gets custody of quartet in viral video case

Imphal, July 31 2023: The court of Special Judge (SC&ST POA) on Monday granted the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) three-day remand of the four persons accused of involvement in the viral video of naked parading of two women.

The four accused, identified as Huirem Heradas (32), Arun Khundongbam (29), Yumlembam Jiban (18) and Ningombam Tomba alias Tomthin (21), were produced before the court by a team of Thoubal police station with a prayer for remanding them to judicial custody till August 14 .

According to the case dossier, Saikul PS had on July 21 registered a zero FIR under various sections of the IPC in connection with the incident and referred the same to Nongpok Sekmai PS.

Amid this, the accused persons made a prayer of remand objection along with their bail applications.

In this regard, the CBI counsel prayed to the court for handing over all four accused from police custody to CBI, following which the Court remanded them to three days for further interrogation.
