Nongpok Pana Apunba Lup (NONGPAL), in collaboration with clubs and Meira Paibi groups representing different localities under its jurisdiction, organised a "Meetei Lives Matter" poster campaign along Porompat DC Road, Imphal East district on Monday.
The primary objective of the campaign is to draw attention to the plight of the Meeteis.
who are being targeted by Kuki militants amid the ethnic violence in the state.
The organisers aim to raise awareness not only among the government but also national and international organisations about the sufferings of the Meetei community that has a narrow margin of majority but confined to only 10 per cent of the land, which also has several water bodies including Loktak Lake and paddy fields.
Volunteers actively participated in the campaign, pasting small posters with slogans like "Meeteigee Punsi Kallu, Meetei Lives Matter" on vehicles passing through the road.
The campaign seeks to highlight the importance of safeguarding the lives and rights of the Meetei community and immediate action to address problems they have been enduring.
