₹10 lakh ex-gratia for SI Onkhomang's kin

Imphal, February 11 2024: In connection with the death of sub-inspector (SI) Onkhomang Haokip of Muolcham Village, who was killed during the communal conflict on September 13 last year, the state government of Manipur has announced payment of ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh to his next of kin.

As per the order notified by the Bishnupur deputy commissioner on February 9, the District Level Committee convened a meeting on December 28 last year and made a decision to award ex-gratia assistance of Rs 10 lakh to Onkhomang Haokip's wife.

In accordance with the decision, the DC ordered for providing the ex-gratia of the said amount to wife of the deceased police officer.

Mention may be made here that SI Onkhomang Haokip was killed when Meetei village volunteers returned fire to armed Kukis who were attacking a Meetei village located adjacent to Churachandpur district under Moirang PS on September 13 last.
