Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar Award for Sinam Babu

In recognition of his achievement in the field of Manipuri dance, Manipuri classical dancer Sinam Basu has been named for conferring the prestigious Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar Award-2012 .
The Yuva Puraskar of Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi has been introduced since 2006 to recognize and encourage young talents in the field of performing arts.
The Yuva Puraskar carries a purse of Rs 25,000, an Angvastram and a plaque.
Basu is a dedicated, versatile and promising young exponent of Manipuri dancer who hails from Sagolband Moirang Hanuba Leirak in Imphal West district.
He is a grandson of Maestro of Meitei Pung (Manipuri Classical Drum) late Sinam Bokul Singh.

Basu completed his diploma in dance from Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy, Imphal while his Graduation and Master in Manipuri dance from Visva-Bharati University with first class first.
Apart from dance, Basu has also learned various performing art forms like Thang-Ta (Martial Art of Manipur), Pung Cholom, Kartal Cholom, Pena, Mime, Natasankritan, Folk song etc.
Sinam Basu Singh receives accolades from the art connoisseurs and scholars for the grace, beauty, lyricism and power of the vibrant dance and the technique of his choreographies in composition like Geet Govindam, Sarasa Vasante, Kamdev Nartan, etc.
His performance has taken him across the length and breadth of the country and abroad to the various prestigious concerts.
Basu is an approved artist of National Doordarshan and also empanelled for ICCR (Indian Council for Cultural Relation).
He has been honoured with innumerable awards like National Scholarship(Ministry of culture), "Nrityanjali" the best male dancer of North East India, Sringar Mani, Natyasree, World Dance Day Puruskar, Kalaajeeva, Nritya Jyoti, Nritya Shiromoni, etc.
Besides, giving lecture demonstration and workshop in various institutions in and out India, Basu is also the founder director of "Manipuri Nritya Mandir" a performing unit of Manipuri dance and music.
