Inferno ravages several houses

Imphal, July 31 2023: Around 17 houses were gutted by an inferno at Canan Veng, North AOC here tonight.

Some residents of the locality said that they saw a huge ball of fire engulfing a house at Canan Veng at around 9 pm and the fire soon spread to neighbouring houses and other structures.

Although the exact cause or origin of the fire could not be ascertained till the time of filing this report, some local residents said that the inferno might have originated from electric short circuit.

They said that they heard sparkling sounds of electric short circuit from a kutcha house before a ball of fire engulfed the house.

Fire tenders of Manipur Fire Service and Police were still struggling to contain and douse the fire.
