Memorandum submitted requesting to include Gorkha/Nepalis in OBC/Minority status

Imphal, December 20 2021: A memorandum has been submitted to the Governor La Ganesan by the intending candidate from Sekmai Assembly Constituency, Khwairakpam Robin requesting to designate Minority or OBC status to Gorkha/Nepalis residing in Manipur.

The memorandum stated that Gorakha/Nepalis have been living harmoniously with other communities of the State and further stated that Subedar Niranjam Chettri and other leaders of Gorkha/Nepali have sacrificed their lives for Manipur.

Stating that the Nepalis residing in the State are facing many difficulties in connection with their status, the memorandum also mentioned that the students belonging to these communities are going through a rough situation since they have not been designated a proper status by the Government.

In view of the above situations and pitiable state of the Gorkha/Nepalis, Kh Robin appealed to the Governor to include them in the Minority or OBC status.
