Govt warns against encroachment

The State Government has categorically stated that nobody without any exception shall violate the orders passed by the Supreme Court of India on September 25, 2023 in the Special Leave Petition (Civil) Diary No 19206/2023 (Dinganglung Gangmei versus Mutum Churamani Meetei & others) .
The Supreme Court orders said that sites of religious buildings should be protected from encroachment and the buildings should be protected from damage/destruction.
The Supreme Court also asked the Government of Manipur to ensure protection of the properties of displaced persons as well as the properties which have been destroyed/burnt in the violence and prevent their encroachment.
In case any property has been encroached, the encroachers be directed to forthwith remove their encroachment, failing which the person concerned would be liable for contempt of Court, the Supreme Court orders mentioned.
Subsequent upon the apex Court's orders, the State Home Department has instructed Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police to take up necessary action and implement the particular orders (of the Supreme Court) .
An order issued by Commissioner (Home) T Ranjit warned that anybody found violating the particular orders of the Supreme Court shall be booked under relevant provision of law and shall be liable for contempt of the Supreme Court.
It also appealed to all concerned including public functionaries to comply with the Court's orders to avoid any contempt proceedings.
