CCPur, July 31 2023:
The Kuki Women Organisation for Human Rights (KWOHR) has appealed to the concerned Central authority to halt the State Government's attempt to deploy additional forces in Moreh and withdraw all State forces, including Police Commandos, from Moreh.
A press release issued by KWOHR has accused the convoy carrying State forces of being "embedded with the Meitei radical groups- the Arambai Tenggol and the Meitei Leepun" and claimed that the presence of "Meitei radical groups in the convoy is further corroborated by the identity verification process conducted by the AR Tengnoupal, wherein a number of 15 (fifteen) Meitei individuals failed to produce any valid ID card or document" .
KWOHR also argued that if the reason for stationing Police Commandos and other State forces in Moreh is for counter-insurgency operations, then their deployment is unjustified and uncalled for.
It reasoned that there are an adequate number of Central armed forces and paramilitary forces in Moreh who are "far more competent and people-friendly in counter insurgency operations" .
Further accusing the Police Commandos of creating fear psychosis among the Kuki civilians in the border town, KWOHR attributed the arsoning of houses and properties in Moreh in recent days to the "provocative acts and conduct of the Police Commandos in terrorizing the civilians by using hate speeches and openly challenging the Kukis to come out for gun-fights, repressive actions and harassment meted out to the Kukis" .
Alleging the helicopter services between Imphal and Moreh (introduced post-Amit Shah's visit) of being maliciously used to transport more Police Commandos and other State forces to Moreh, KWOHR's press release also decried this move and suggested the Government to stop this once and for all.
