Cleanliness drive conducted

Ukhrul, January 23 2024: The Ukhrul District Administration in collaboration with Ukhrul police, Public Works Department, Khamatek, the green lovers of Ukhrul and ENFOCAL conducted a cleanliness drive at Bakshi ground, Hungpung where upcoming Republic Day celebration will be held on January 26 for Ukhrul district.

During the cleanliness drive, untamed bushes ,weeds and garbage scattered on all the four side of the Bakshi ground were cleaned while the volunteers of the Khamatek collected the plastic bottles that were littered in the surrounding peripheral areas for proper disposal for a clean environment and to prevent clogging of drainage by the plastic waste.

Meanwhile, the PWD staff filled up some portions of the ground with earthen soil and levelled the southern side of the ground.

Speaking at the sidelines, Khuisang Ragui, chairman of Khamatek stated that since April 2023, the members of Khamatek have been collecting plastic bottles littering the town.

'Our organisation's main objective is to make Ukhrul, a plastic free town for the welfare of all', he said.
