Imphal, July 31 2023:
Nirupa Sanjenbam, Head of Projects at the MaolKeki Foundation (MKF), has shared how integrating health and agricultural training enabled the organisation to leverage program infrastructure, increase participation from rural communities and provide simple but essential primary health checks.
Speaking at the just-concluded Civil 20 Summit in Jaipur, Rajasthan, Nirupa recommended such integrated programs to be part of the policy recommendations to the G20, said MKF in a release.
Another recommendation, focused on the Gender Equality stream, was MKF's work on building last-mile social entrepreneurs to make affordable, high-quality, sanitary pads available to rural women and girls.

Also present at the Summit was MKF Trustee, Dr Shachi Gurumayum, who along with Nirupa were able to meet with various Civil Society Organisations to discuss the Foundation's work in Manipur, the current crisis engulfing Manipur and MKF's relief efforts focusing on providing necessary educational materials to hundreds of children at various relief camps in Manipur.
During one-to-one interactions with Amma, Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, Chair of C20, Ambassador Vijay K Nambiar, Sherpa of C20, Sri M, founder of Satsang Foundation, and others, Dr Shachi and Nirupa were able to convey the pain and suffering of the many residents of Relief Camps they had been personally interacting with since the crisis started.
MKF was actively pursuing multiple development projects in 14 out of 16 districts in Manipur when the crisis started.
Notably, C20 is one of the official engagement groups of the G20, whose presidency is currently held by India, and provides a platform for Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) like the MaolKeki Foundation to voice the people's aspirations to world leaders.
During the three-day Summit, 16 Working Groups that had been organising multiple engagements around the world gave their policy recommendations to take to the G20 later this year.
One of these working groups is the Sustainable & Resilient Communities group.
