Thoubal, December 10 2023: The Mangani Leihun ceremony of the 13 bravehearts who were murdered at Leithao village was held today at Torongthel, Andro amid a resonating cry of grief of thousands of people.

Heartbreaking visuals of parents, families and near and dear ones breaking down at their resting site made the ceremony even more emotional.

Thousands of people including students, CSO leaders, Meira Paibis and representatives of local clubs attended the Mangani Leihun, among others.

Rich tributes were paid to the bravehearts with a pena rendition accompanied by langdren thougal and Thang-ta performances while singers of Apunba Manipur Matam Ishei Kanglup (AMMIK) presented a patriotic number.

In the morning, a large number of people gathered at Thoubal Kshetri Leikai Lampak and took out a procession from there to Torongthel by carrying the photos of the 13 Meeteis who sacrificed their lives for the cause of Manipur.

People of all ages also offered their tributes to the 13 bravehearts along the route of the procession.

Reportedly, there was a traffic jam at different areas of Andro as thousands turned up to attend the ceremony.

Due to the traffic jam, hundreds of people parked their vehicles and walked about 3/4 Kms from Andro Keithel up to Torongthel to pay their respect to the bravehearts.

As requested by the Athouba 13 Ningshing Thouram Committee, markets were closed, passenger services remained off the road in several areas while thousands of people ceased their work for the day and attended the Mangani Leihun.

Security measures were also taken up by the police.
