Inter School Sports and Literary Meet begins in Chandel

The Inter School Sports and Literary Meet-2018 organised by Naga Students' Union Chandel kicked off today at Maha Union Government Higher Secondary School ground in the presence of Col Prasad Ghorpade, Commandant 18 AR Chandel; Lh Mojesh, AIZEO Chandel as chief guest and guest of honour respectively.
CNPO, NWUC, units of NWUC and Principals of various schools also took part in the inaugural function as special invitees.
March-Past by contingents of participating schools marked the beginning of the program and it was followed by a special song from Lh Thahrin, a student of ACI and choreography performed by Oriental Academy, said a press release of Naga Students' Union Chandel (NSUC).
The distinguished guests advised the students to stay focus on academic career and give equal importance to games and sports at the same time to achieve a complete quality education and maintain healthy living, the release added.
The day also witnessed junior and senior teams from different school compete in the football and volleyball matches.
Maha Union Govt Higher Secondary School beat St Joseph High School by 5-4 margin via tie breaker in a junior category match while Koinonia Training Centre overcame Union Model High School by 3-2 margin through tie breaker.
In the first match of the senior category, Maha Union Govt Higher Secondary School thumped St Joseph Hr sec School by 2-0 goals while SEM Hr Secondary School got a walk over against MG Evergreen Hr Secondary School.
In the volleyball competition for girls, St Peter Hr Sec School beat St Joseph Hr Secondary in the first game of the junior competition while Oriental Academy beat Koinonia Training School in the second match of the junior girls category.
In the senior girls competitions, Maha Union Govt Higher Secondary School beat ACI Higher Secondary School and St Peter Hr Sec School were awarded a walk over against SEM Higher Secondary School.
