Host Tamil Nadu State tops Medal haul with 18 Gold Medals

Chennai, August 01 2013: The 14th IFMA-MFI National Muaythai Championship held from July 25 to 28, 2013 at the Great City of Villupuram, Tamil Nadu, India has become history as this National Muaythai Championship has exceeded all the past IFMA-MFI National Muaythai Championships held elsewhere in the country.

The Tournament was held at Kandasamy Memorial Indoor Stadium, Villupuram, Tamil Nadu.

This historic Mega National Muaythai Championship was organized by the Tamil Nadu Amateur Muaythai Association (TNAMA), an MFI-affiliated unit, under the sanctioning of the Muaythai Federation of India (MFI) .

Former Tamil Nadu Minister Dr K Ponmudi graced the Opening and Closing Celebrations.

He lauded the organizers of the National Muaythai Championship for making the event a grand success in Tamil Nadu.

He also appreciated President of MFI, Oken Jeet Sandham for allowing the TNAMA to host the 14th IFMA-MFI National Muaythai Championship from July 25 to 28, 2013 at Villupuram, Tamil Nadu.

MFI President Oken Jeet Sandham, on behalf of the MFI National Federation, expressed happiness on the unprecedented hospitality provided to the Muaythai teams taking part in the Championship at Villupuram.

He expressed his profound gratitude to TNAMA President GP Mahesh Babu and his team for making the Tournament a grand success.

MFI President also recalled the last 13th IFMA-MFI National Muaythai Championship held at Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu and further informed that TNAMA had created a sort of record for organizing two National Muaythai Championships consecutively - 2012 and 2013 - in Tamil Nadu State.

Earlier TNAMA President GP Mahesh Babu welcomed all the participating teams to the 14th IFMA-MFI National Muaythai Championship at Villupuram City of Tamil Nadu.

The host TNAMA walked away with the highest Gold Medals, 18 Gold Medals, followed by Meghalaya State with 8 Gold Medals and Nagaland State with 6 Gold Medals.

Several dignitaries including Members of Parliament (MP), MLAs and host of renowned public leaders also attended the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the 14th IFMA-MFI National Muaythai Championship 2013 at Villupuram.

Colorful Tamil Cultural shows were also presented during the Ceremonies.

The 14th IFMA-MFI National Muaythai Championship 2013 at Villupuram is the "qualifiers" of the upcoming IFMA World Muaythai Championship to be held next year in Malaysia.
