Meiraba first from state to represent Jr India in International Badminton C'ship

Imphal, February 27 2013:
Meiraba Luwang, a student of class VI at Shishu Nistha Niketan School, has become the first ever badminton player of Manipur to represent Indian Junior team in International Championships after he was selected to represent India in the Israel Junior International Badminton Championships which will be held from March 14 to 16 .
With the successful participation of Meiraba in the International championships, badminton lovers in the state will see a new dawn in the history of the discipline.
Meiraba is the son of renowned Badminton coach Romesh Luwang from Sega Road Khwairakpam Leikai.
His father Romesh is working as a coach in the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports Office, Government of Manipur.
Meiraba is ranked 5th in the U-13 category and 2nd in U-11 age category in All India Ranking.
He will be participating in the championships in three events - Single event (U-11), Boys Double (U-13) with Raz Kischitzky of Israel and Mixed Double with Eden Moses of Israel.
He had participated in the Special Winter Badminton Training conducted by Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy from January 7 to February 3 along with another state player N Purnima from Kakching.
He is now undergoing training under Indonesia Coach Yusuf Jauhari in Bangalore for the championships.
