State cricket players will get immense benefit: RK Imo

Manipur cricket players will be getting a lot of benefits and true taste of professionalism, said RK Imo, MLA Sagolband AC, who is also the president of Manipur Cricket Association (MCA) in a press meet held at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium, Luwangsangbam.
The meet was organised to discuss the present status of MCA, inclusion of Manipur in the Ranji Trophy and other major tournaments from the season 2018-19 and its preparation; development infrastructure and other facilities.
Ch Chaoba, vice-president MCA; S Priyanda, secretary MCA and Rajib Datta, member of New Area Development Programme Task Force, BCCI also attended the meet.
Speaking on the occasion, RK Imo said that Manipur Cricket Association has been given full membership by Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and also thanked the BCCI and the Supreme Court of India on behalf of the association.
RK Imo continued saying that the efforts of many cricket enthusiasts of the State have started to yield results and expressed his readiness send proposals to enhance the condition of Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium and develop new cricket grounds to the BCCI and other concerned authorities.
Announcing that Manipur will be taking part in this year's Ranji Trophy due to start from November 1, he said that the State players featuring in the tournament will be getting more than Rs 10 Lakh each.
Highlighting the manifold opportunities ahead, RK Imo urged all the cricket players to work harder and showcase their best in the upcoming events.
On asked about the special stress being made to develop cricket in the State by the MCA, RK Imo replied that the managing committee of the association has been reduced to the level best as per BCCI's guideline and many subcommittees were ready to enhance development process.
He also stressed on the importance and challenges of the selection committee with which the great task of selecting players rest.
He also noted that MCA will seek approval from BCCI to organise a State Level T-20 Tournament (6 team event) as a curtain raiser for the upcoming Ranji Trophy.
Rajib Datta, who is on his two day visit to the State pointed that Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium's location is one of the finest in the North East States.
Assuring all possible help from BCCI in infrastructural development, Rajib said that Luwangwangpokpa Cricket Stadium's ground and pitch will be develop within this year's October 15 besides developing another indoor cricket stadium very soon.
