Vijay Hazare Trophy : Yashpal Singh ton, RK Rex five-for guide Manipur to emphatic 210-run victory

Superb batting performance by Yashpal Singh and RK Rex's 5 wicket haul helped cruised Manipur to an emphatic 210-run victory over Mizoram in their fifth match (Plate Group) at the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy at Anand today.
Manipur now sit at 3rd place after the second win in the plate group table with a total of 10 points.
Manipur which made few changes in the playing eleven won the toss and elected to bat first.
It was a disastrous start but the middle orders had great innings today and helped Manipur post the 280 run target at the cost of 4 wickets in 50 overs Lakhan Arjun Rawat who opened up with P Prafullomani returned without any score in his name but the latter combined well with Bonny Chingangbam in the second wicket stand to keep the spirit alive and guide Manipur to 100 run mark in 22.5 over.
It was indeed saddening as Prafullomani who hit 3 fours was only three runs away from half century (in 70 balls) when he fell prey to Akhil Rajput of the Mizoram side.
Bonny Chingangbam who missed previous matches did well with in form Yashpal Singh to punish the Mizoram bowlers and scored a handsome 75 runs off 101 balls including 6 fours.
Yashpal who was the batting star of the day smashed 13 fours and 1 six on his way to 102 runs haul today before he departed giving way to Jayanta who also gathered another 39 off 41 balls on the back of 2 fours and 1 six and remained not out.
Bishorjit also managed 4 runs in the first innings to help Manipur settle with 279 runs in 50 overs.
Mizoram's HM Ralte and Akhil Rajput of picked one wicket each while Varte Kima claimed two wickets.
In reply, Mizoram were bundled out for a meagre 69 run in 29.3 overs as Homendro, RK Rex and Bishorjit wreaked havoc across their batting line up.
Sinan (17), Mikal (12), Varte Kima (15), Sailo (12*), Akhil Rajput (6) and S Zorinliana (1) etched their names on the scoresheet while other players went out for duck.
Homendro dismissed three while RK Rex enjoyed a 5-wicket haul and Bishorjit made two in his name and helped Manipur romp to 210-run victory.
Manipur will face Nagaland in the next tie on September 30 at Nadiad.
