General strike continues to affect normal life on 2nd day at Jiribam, Thoubal and Bishnupur districts

The second day of the 48 hours general strike called by joint student body denouncing the arrests of teachers and students of Manipur University was effective in Jiribam district today.
A group of bandh supporters set the effigies of Chief Minister N Biren, Education Minister Radheshyam, Pro VC of Manipur University Professor K Yugindro and Prof AP Pandey, on fire.
The protesters raised slogans demanding the release of the arrested individuals unconditionally while apprising that the present turmoil will hot cool down as long as the individual remain arrested.
The streets of Jiribam wore & deserted look while schools and business establishments remained closed.
However, the Government employees continued to go to their respective offices as per the strict order of the Government.
Jiribam police personnel were deployed at certain areas of the district to prevent any unwanted incident.
THOUBAL: The 48 hrs state-wide bandh called by the six student organizations - AMSU, MSF, DESAM, KSA, SUK and AIMS - demanding immediate release of arrested students and teachers of MU has crippled normal life in Thoubal district today on the second day of the general strike.
Main market in the district wore deserted look while passenger vehicles also stayed off the road during the bandh.
Passenger vehicles stopped their services at Yairipok due to non-availability of passengers while private establishment, schools and other private institutions were seen remained close other than Government offices, schools and colleges.
District Police Thoubal took up stringent measures to ward off any unwanted incident during the bandh.
BISHNUPUR: The 48 hours state-wide general strike called by the six student organizations in connection to the issue related to Manipur University has severely affected normal life of the citizens of Bishnupur district on second day too.
Many main markets of the district including Nambol market, Oinam market, Keinou market, Bishnupur market, Ningthoukhong market, Moirang market, Moirang Lamkhai market, Kumbi market and Kwakta market wore deserted looks while all the shops in the area remained close during the bandh.
Many passenger and private vehicles also stayed off the road during the general strike.
However, few shops were seen open and some Auto service vehicles were reportedly seen plying on the road.
Manipur State Transport Bus continued to ply normally in the district on the second day of the bandh while Government offices, Schools and Colleges in the district were opened but no student did not turn up to attend their classes.
No unwanted incidents have been reported so far during the bandh.
