H Premkumar to attend WoMAU meeting in Chongju

Imphal, August 14 2023:
Renowned Thang-Ta activist and president of World Thang-Ta Federation, Huidrom Premkumar has left Imphal for Chungju, South Korea to attend the 22nd Annual General Meeting of World Martial Arts Union (WoMAU) to be held from August 16 to 18 .
Huyel Langlon Thang-Ta Association, Manipur in a statement said that three day event will also feature Martial Arts Exchange among Nations and discourse on it.
Through the meeting, Premkumar will put forth the proposal for organisation of International Thang-Ta Championship in line with the World Martial Arts Festival in the coming years and help further propagate the martial art indigenous to Manipur, the association said.
Before departing for South Korea, Premkumar had also stated that Thang-Ta can become an Olympic discipline if the State Government pushes for the pending recognitition by the Ministry of Sports, it said.
The association also prayed that Premkumar's led Thang-Ta movement towards becoming an Olympic discipline may fructify in the near future.
Notably, the meeting is set to be held in conjuction with the 5th UNESCO-listed Martial Arts Promotion Committee and the 2023 International Martial Arts Contest.
