Manipur Independence day celebrated across districts

The 76th edition of Manipur Independence day was celebrated in different districts of the state by various organisations with hoisting of flag marking the event.
THOUBAL: All Thoubal District United Club Organisation (ATDUCO) and Khunai Kanba Apunba Meira Paibi Lup (KHUKAMPAL) jointly organised the 76th Manipur Independence day at Khongjom War Memorial complex on Monday.
As part of the celebration, the Pakhangba engraved Manipur flag was hoisted at the memorial site of Paona Brajabasi located at the foothills of Kheba Hill by ATDUCO advisor L Subash.
People also offered floral tributes to the statue of Paona Brajabashi as a mark of respect to the freedom fighter.
Speaking at the occasion, Laishram Subash said that August 14 is an important day for Manipur as it is a day of celebration remembering Manipur's independence from British colonial rule.
The British left Manipur on August 14, 1947 and gave independence to Manipur on this day.
This day has been celebrated as Manipur Independence day since then.
The function was also attended by KHUKAMPAL president Ima Meipak, ATDUCO president Leishangthem rajen, vice president Moirangthem Babutombi, Sapam GP pradhan S Rame and Heirok ex-pradhan M Rajmani as special invitees.
International Peace and Social Advancement (IPSA) celebrated the Independence Day of Manipur at Thoubal Wangmataba.
The function which was also marked by hoisting of Manipur flag was attended by IPDA Thoubal branch president Ak Bishwajit as president.
The Meetei Community Joint Co-ordinating Committee With Women Wing Waithou, Kiyam, Kiyam Siphai, Haokha & Thoubal Khunou also celebrated the day by hoisting the Manipur flag at Babu bazaar.
The participants also offered floral tributes to the photos of the freedom fighters.
The Women Welfare Association, Charangpat Mamang Leikai Awang Kangjeibung also organised the 76th Manipur Independence day at Charangpat Mamang Leikai Awang Kangjeibung community hall on Monday.
Meira Paibi associations of Athokpam Khunou Khangabok celebrated the day at Thoubal Athokpam Khunou Khangabok.
BISHNUPUR: Celebrating the day when the British left Manipur, the 76th Manipur Independence day was held at Bishnupur bazaar where the Pakhangba engraved Manipur flag was hoisted.
Speaking at the occasion, Lumlangdong (Bishnupur) Apunba Lup president L Nganbi Devi said that ever since Manipur was merged to the Indian union, the government of India has turned its back on Manipur.
She further said that the government of India is still remaining silent even as illegal immigrants are waging war against Manipur.
The central forces deployed in the state have not been able to save the life and property of Manipuris.
She also stated that this is no time for the central government to play divide and rule policy in the state.
Imphal East District United Clubs Organisation celebrated the 76th Manipur Independence Day by hoisting flags at different areas including Seijang, Telou, Sekta, Thamnapokpi Nungoi Awang Leikai, Pukhao Terapur, Pukhao Khabam, Uyumpok Mamang Leikai, Khurai Ningthoubung Leikai, Kanglasiphai, Kongpal Kongkham Leikai, Kongba Bazar, Bamol Kampu, Salanthong Lairikyengbam Leikai.
