Ukhrul, August 14 2023:
The first phase of the Intensified Mission Indradhanush (IMI) 5.0 concluded in the Chingai, Kuirei and Challou villages of Ukhrul district.
According to Ukhrul District Immunization Officer Dr Pamza Luikham, over 200 children from 0-5 years were immunised in the first phase of Intensified Mission Indradhanush campaign.
Also 30 pregnant women were vaccinated during the weeklong immunization drive, he added.
He further informed that routine immunization was carried out in the vacant sub-centres wherein children living in more than 40 remote villages of Ukhrul district were covered.
A separate vaccination programme was organised for the internally displaced children living at the two relief camps of Molnom and Litan village of the district, he said.
Dr Luikham also mentioned that the vaccination drive was intensified in order to achieve the national target of Measles and Rubella elimination in the country.
In spite of staff shortage of the Ukhrul Medical Department, the immunization drive was successfully carried out in the far flung rural areas.
It may be mentioned that, IMI 5.0 focuses on reaching zero-dose children aged between 0 - 5 years and pregnant women, ensuring that every child receives life-saving vaccines and those who might have missed any vaccine doses in the national immunisation schedule earlier.
