77th Naga I-Day: Naga solution in God's hands, not India, says HC Swu
Source: Chronicle News Service / R Lester Makang

Ukhrul, August 14 2023: Government of the People's Republic of Nagalim (GPRN) Collective Leadership member major (retired) Hutovi Chishi Swu, has stated that solution to the protracted Naga political issue is in the hands of God and Nagas, and not in the Government of India (GoI).

Speaking as chief guest of the 77th Naga Independence Day celebration held at UBC Jubilee Hall at Kamphasom in Ukhrul town on Monday, the NSCbJ-IM/ GPRN leader emphasised that the solution to the protracted Naga political issue lies with the blessings of God and the unity of the Naga people, rather than with India.

"Our solution is in the hands God and the Naga public," he said.

Citing that the present circumstances of Nagas are like the Isrealites in the Bible who were meant to make a forty day journey, yet took forty years, HC Swu mentioned that similarly, the settlement of the vaunted Naga Political situation has been extended from 17 years to 70 years.

The primary reason for this delay, he noted, is the lack of unity among the Nagas, just like the lack of faith among the Israelites with many of them wanting to return to the land of Egypt.

He highlighted the problem of blame-game among the Nagas today which he called it one of the factors that contributed to long delay in the settlement of the political issue.

HC Swu went on to challenge the Nagas to stand resolute in the face of adversity and storms and despite being scattered across different places.

He asserted that the birth right of the Nagas cannot be exchanged for a meal and urged the Nagas to maintain their unity and not be misled by anything.

He added that the Naga rights are God-given and that their stand for truth will become history one day, while observing with assurance that God is helping the Nagas in ways beyond human comprehension.

In his clarion call, Swu said that only with a unified stance, the dream of achieving a peaceful settlement for the Nagas and upholding their birth right will be possible.

Swu further reminder all to stay true to the cause of truth, and that this stand will one day become part of the Naga history, reaffirming hope that with God's faithful assistance, a settlement of their political issue is within reach.

The celebration commenced with Swu hoisting the Naga national flag at the premise of the UBC Jubilee Hall in the presence of WTR CAO Canan Kasar and other Naga national leaders, church elders, CSO leaders and public.

During the celebration, WTR secretary Sirius Kong-har also read out the speech of the NSCN-IM/GPRN ato kilonser Th Muivah before the five-thousand-strong congregation.

A one-minute silent prayer in honour of 'National Martyrs' was also held led by WTR chaplain Tamrei Zimik amidst the attendees singing the Naga national anthem.

Meanwhile, as part of the celebration, a group of Naga youths of the district numbering around 300 took up a motorbike rally in Ukhrul town.

The rally was held under the theme "Ili pharasang kahai ngalei, khisada maleishisa chipaira (How can I not love my beloved birthplace)".

Speaking to media persons on the sidelines to the rally, a youth leader Wungchipem said that the youth are organising the rally in celebration of the historic Naga Independence Day.

"Youth can no longer remain a mute spectator in the true spirit of Naga nationalism, self-determination and lasting peace between India and Nagalim," he said.
