"No obstacle is too big, no barrier too high for a Manipuri girl".
If one takes into account of the outstanding achievements of sports women of the State in international arena, the saying is not mere empty words or inflated exaggeration.
After the success stories of many Manipuri sports women, Ningthoujam Bidyapati, a young mountaineer of the Manipur Mountaineering and Trekking Association (MMTA), added another glorious chapter by conquering Mt Mulkila IV, the highest peak in the Mulkila ranges of the Himachal Himalayas.
The peak stands 6517 meter above sea level.
Bidyapati d/o N Kokngang and Boramani of Mongjam Maning Leikai was among the first Indian women team and the second team in the world who have been able to scale the Mt Mulkila.
The expedition to the peak organised by the Indian Mountaineering Foundation, New Delhi was led by Deepu Sharma who has the distinction of scaling Mount Everest in 1993.Another Manipuri girl Ayingbi was also a member of the expedition team.
Earlier, Bidyapati conquered Mt Gangotri II (6590 m) in 2003, Saichen Glaciers, Mt Abi Gamin and Mt Kamet (25,450 ft).
She had also participated in pre Mt Everest expedition in 2004.
