DESAM-sponsored 'Community meeting on present academic activities' was held at Machu Cinema Hall, Samurou today.
The meeting attended by teachers, students, guardians and offices of the State Education Department discussed various ways and means of improving the standard of education in the Government schools.
Participating in the meeting, senior assistant teacher of Samurou High School Kh Sarat highlighted various problems like negligence of duties by the teachers in Government schools specially at the Primary and Junior High School level, lack of infrastructures, etc.
Although the role of the teachers is very important in imparting proper education to the students, the response of the students and their guardians as well as existence of an effective Education system are also pre-requisite factors, he observed.
So putting the blame only on the teachers for the sorry state of affairs prevailing in the Government schools would not be proper, he added.
MLA Salam Joy, who attended the meeting as chief guest, lauded the efforts being made by DESAM for improvement of education system in Manipur.
He also exhorted the teachers, students, guardians for working together for ensuring a conducive environment for study in the State.
Vice president of DESAM PC Newton and ZEO Wangoi Kh Upro were respectively functional president and guest of honour of the meeting.
