In awful incidents of a sort during the past week, two elderly men were killed at separate family feuds in the interior parts of Churachandpur district while a sixteen year old girl was injured by a stray bullet on midnight of Sunday.
According to information received from the police, one Haumang, 53, was killed by his own son identified as Paukhanthang, 30, on last Thursday at Thanlon village, allegedly without any provocation from the former.
Paukhanthang who arrived here late yesterday under the custody of the state police is said to be mentally unstable.
He is presently being locked-up at police station.
In another instance of family related feud, K Chinzalam, 42, s/o Liantual of Sinzawl was killed on Friday while struggling to paci fy a father and a son who were engaged in physical duel.
Chinzalam was rushed to the district hospital but succumbed soon after.
A stray bullet fired on the dead night of Sunday meanwhile injured a sixteen year old girl who was then sleeping.
Even though numerous gunshots were audible from the northern side of the town during the night, it was not known from where the bullet that injured the girl on her right thigh was fired from as a hole formed by the bullet on the tin roof seemed to be pierced from the southern side.
Police has recovered a bullet from her bed, while she was presently being treated at her home after administering first aid.
Meanwhile it has been confirmed that a housewife identified as Ngakneikim alias Neneo 24, w/o Rajen of Zomi Villa has been engaged in trafficking innocent young girls from here to Imphal for the flesh market.
Neneo has on July 16 received a twelve and a fourteen year old girls, both from the interior areas and with pitiable family background from a hotel here, purportedly for domestic labour.
However, after landing the girls at Imphal they were forced to trade their flesh.
The event was exposed only after the police commando busted their sanctuary in the end of July last and handed the two hapless girls to an NGO.
