27th Senior Women's NFCS Lynda Kom strikes late to help Manipur edge past Assam 3-2

Imphal, April 04 2023:
Manipur lost the first half lead but rallied back in the second half to beat Assam 3-2 for the third straight victory in the 27th Senior Women's National Football Championship at Bangalore Football Stadium.
Manipur started cautiously and went ahead when Moirangthem Mandakini found the breakthrough in the 15th minute but Assam's fought back and overturned the lead before the break with Ningthoujam Roni scoring the equaliser in the 30th minute and Yumkhaibam Hemolata adding the team's second six minutes later.

After trailing by 1-2 goals, Manipur pulled level through Salam Rinaroy's goal in the 61st minute before S Lynda Kom hit the winner just one minute away from time.
Manipur had won the Group (VI) opener against Bihar by 5-0 goals and overwhelmed Gujarat in the previous match for the second win.
Manipur will play Karnataka in the next match on April 6 .
