Nambol's TRUGPU, defending champion NISA (Thangmeiband) and SSU, Singjamei have gained 10 points each with the Nambol side on top of the table with a better goal difference at the end of fourth round of the 3rd Manipur State League Football Tournament today.
After a goalless opening session against TRAU (Tiddim Road), TRUGPU fans thoroughly enjoyed the second half as the home team pumped in four goals through M Sudhiranjan (53rd, 73rd), Surchand (55th) and Kh Naoton (75th).NISA also registered a convincing 3-1 victory over USA (Khurai) at its Sekmai home ground but with TRUGPU yet to concede so far in the competition had to stay in second position on the points table.
The NISA goals were scored by O Pritam (3rd), N Jimmy (68th) and M Bijen (88th) while M Suresh netted the USA consolation goal in the 81st.Third placed SSL1 also coasted to an easy 3-0 win over ESU, Wangkhei at theChajing ground of the Singjamei side as L Tiken (16th) and Y Sachinanda (90th) found the rival net while K Somen's own goal in the 71st minute added to Wangkhei side's misery.
PYC rallied from a goal down to record the biggest win margin of the day as the Phoudel side outclassed visitors NLYC, Churachandpur 6-2 on hattricks by Md Sahidur Rahman and L Bikram.
H'Thongson (1 st) and S Kiminthang (13th) scored the NLYC goals.
At Liberal College ground (Luwangsangbam), host NEROCA, Shangakpham edged past Moirang's AMOFA by a solitary goal scored in 72nd minute through H Chakravarti while visitors MPSC grabbed maximum points with a 2-1 defeat of YWC at Thambalkhong ground.
After Th Vandana provided the YWC breakthrough in first half injury time (46th), Ksh Kanta (65th) and Md Ziaulhaque (88th) ensured the police side's victory.
