In a major boost to militants who have surrendered to the Government, the High Court has ruled that they should be paid their due stipends within two months and to absorb them into Government jobs within three months time.
Talking to reporters near the commando barracks (previously the place of the Dog Squad), the surrenderees said that on May 30,2005, the then DGP had issued an order to recruit 74 of them as Riflemen and Followers.
However only 41 of them were actually recruited leaving 38 of them in the cold.
To fight for justice, four of them filed a case with trfe Court while another filed a petition on his own, they said.
After hearing the cases put forward by the Counsels of the Government the surrendered militants, the High Court passed the ruling that they be paid their outstanding stipend within two months and to recruit them within three months, added the surrenderees.
The militants surrendered under the rehabilitation schemes of the Centre, but they were not paid stipends regularly.
