The 2nd Private School Day was observed under the aegis of All Manipur Recognised Private Schools' Welfare Association, Imphal at Kangla Hall here today.
Attended by teachers and students of various private schools, the observance was attended by Education Minister L: Jayantakumar as chief guest, president of All Manipur Recognised Private Schools' Welfare Association H Bira as functional president and Ex-Minister Dr M Nara and Chairman of Council of Higher Education, Manipur X Ibobi as guests of honour.
Apart from releasing a souvenir of the All Manipur Recognised Private Schools' Welfare Association, toppers of the class X and XII examinations conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur and the Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur this year were also honoured with gifts and awards during the function.

Minister L Jayantakumar admitted that existing education system has not been able to meet the aspiration of the students.
So there is the need to amend the education policy of the State so as to suit the changing time.
While contending that the cries for making education as a free zone has come about due to lack of sincerity on the part of the officials and all those the Minister called for concerted efforts and cooperation among all in development of education in the State.
In his address as guest of honour of the function, Dr Nara pointed out that corruption is the main reason behind the inability to bring about a change in the existing education system.
So corruption should be uprooted, he added.
AR donates ration: The 21 AR donated rations to the Mission Blind School, Heikakpokpi on August 31.The school with no source of funding other than Churches and XGOs has been adopted by the AR unit of 9 Sector, informed PRO IGAR (S).
