Imphal, February 16, 2010:
A combined team of Thoubal district police commandos and troops of 21 Assam Rifles has gunned down a suspected underground activist today at Keirak area, which is under kakching police station of Thoubal district.
A police source said at about 4.30 pm an encounter broke-out between the joint security team and some unidentified persons at near Keirak Buffalo Farm during which one got killed on the spot.
The security force team reportedly recovered a 9 mm pistol, a loaded magazine, 15 empty cases of AK series rifle, one Chinese hand-grenade and another .36 HE grenade from near the victim's body, whose identity is yet to be confirmed.
