Of the three individuals shot dead by troops of 12 Assam Rifles on February 11 at Nambashi in Ukhrul district, two have been identified as cadres of the proscribed UNLF.
They were Moirangthem Dinesh alias Naotomba alias Nungthang (23) s/o Yaima of Tera Lukram Leirak and Moirangthem Nanao (19) s/o Pancho of Waikhong Laimanai, Thoubal district.
Both of them left home about five years back and they were cadres of the UNLF.
Although the two corpses have been handed over to respective families after post mortem at RIMS today, the third deceased cannot be identified till date.
The other UG suspect killed in a reported encounter with troops of 29 AR last morning at Chelep village under Tengnoupal district is also lying unidentified at RIMS mortuary.
According to a press release issued by the OC of Tengnoupal police station, the deceased is about 5�4� in height and appears to be about 24/25 years of age.
He had fair complexion and ears pierced.
He was wearing a grey coloured shirt.
Assam Rifles claimed that one M-16 rifle and a magazine containing six live rounds were recovered from the slain UG suspect.
