The first death anniversary of the then Kasom Khullen SDO Dr Thingnam Kishan and his two subordinate staff, namely Revenue Mandal Yumnam Token and driver Aribam Rajen, would be observed jointly tomorrow at Gandhi Ghat, Uripok here where their mortal remains had been laid to rest.
Dr Thingnam Kishan of Nagamapal Kangjabi Leirak, Yumnam Token of Chingamathak Yumnam Leikai and Aribam Rajen of Uripok were abducted along with three other staff by a group of NSCN-IM cadres led by one self styled Lt Col Hopeson Ningshen from a place in Ukhrul in the afternoon of February 14 last year but were found brutally murdered beneath the Lukhrabi bridge near Taphou Kuki village in Senapati district on the morning of February 17.The other three staff were, however released by the abductors.
Addressing a press conference in this connection at Manipur Press Club here today, Y Kapur, convenor of the JAC formed in protest against the triple killing informed that the death anniversary observance is being organised jointly by the JAC and the bereaved family members and appealed to the people to come and attend the observance.
As part of the observance to be held at Gandhi Ghat where the mortal remains of Dr Kishan, Token and Rajen were laid to rest, a poster exhibition would also be organised, he further informed.
Recounting the development of the investigation into the case and the agitation being spearheaded in this regard by the JAC with the support of the bereaved families and the public in pursuance of the demand for punishment of the killers, Kapur said that CBI which is investigating into the case has already submitted chargesheet to CJM Ukhrul.
Along with filing a petition with the CJM Ukhrul for registering an FIR against the then Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul Pankaj Kumar Pal over his alleged involvement in the abduction and subsequent murder, the JAC has also exerted pressures for arresting not only the main accused Hopeson Ningshen, who is in Tihar Jail, but also others involved in the brutal murder.
Side by side, a complaint had also been filed at the Supreme Court and the hearing of the case is awaited.
For construction of memorial complex near Gandhi Ghat, the JAC has also been exerting pressure on the State Government, Kapur informed, adding that the Government is likely to implement the same.
Conveying that CJM Ukhrul has issued summon orders against Maj Ashang, Maj Apho Sibo and Cpl Johny of the rebel outfit, who are co-accused in the case to appear before the court on February 19, Kapur pledged JAC's commitment to pursue the demand until justice and a logical end has been brought about.
In this regard, two cells, namely KTR-I (Kishan, Token, Rajen) and KTR-II have been set up, he informed.
To ensure mass participation in the first death anniversary observance function tomorrow and not to cause any disruption in the traffic flow, Kapur also appealed to all those who would be coming to park their vehicles either at Uripok Khoisnam Leikai Lairembi ground or other suitable places after crossing Wahengabm Leikai or Meinothong.
