Jiribam, October 11 2008:
In an inferno that broke out at about 5 pm today, hostel of the Western English School, located at Kamranga, Jiri was reduced to cinders, reports our Jiribam correspondent.
Even though there was no casualty to the hostelers, it is estimated that properties worth Rs 2 lakhs approximately were destroyed by the fire.
The school and hostel belong to one K Abi of Sibilong village, Tousem sub-division.
The fire was finally put out by a team of Jiribam Fire Brigade assisted by personnel of 5 Assam Rifles.
