Invoking clauses of the recently enforced nationwide ban on smoking in public places, RIMS authorities penalised eight individuals who were rounded up by its private security personnel for smoking within the hospital premises.
The amount collected as fines from these eight ban violators would be utilised in the purchase of IV drips/sets for cancer patients for the timebeing, said an official source while informing that the individuals were fined Rs 200 each.
Craking down on smokers who seldom care health hazards caused to non-smokers particularly in public places such as medical institutions Medical Superintendent of RIMS reportedly issued strong instructions to the security personnel to act in tough manner against smoking within the hospital premises ever since the Central Govt enforced ban on smoking on october 2 .
The eight were rounded up in the past few days, informed the source who further cautioned tobacco product consumers inside the hospital campus as instructions have been issued to the security personnel to intensify vigil and pull smokers.
