Imphal, March 03:
All Manipur College Teachers' Association excoriated State cabinet's decision of re-engaging of college teachers on contract basis up to June this year who got retirement last month.
Maintaining that the association has been demanding extension of retirement age of teachers to 62 years in accordance with the guidelines of UGC, the recent decision is just a mockery to their demands, said a statement of the association.
The teachers' body said that the Government puts higher education in a complete confusion by appointing some principals in-charge on seniority basis while others on UGC's guidelines.
The statement further added that the association is ready for mass-resignation if their demands are not met while asserting that the Government should be responsible for any consequence arising out of the steps taken up by the teachers.
